Today’s post is mostly an allegory –but it holds a lot of meaning:
I along with most others had come to accept the perimeters around us without really questioning if they should even be there. We might have complained a little from time to time–but we tried to comply and make our lives workable inside that cage. A few years ago as so many negative things were happening I begin to question– What is going on?? Is this the TRUTH or are we being told LIES?? Why?? How?? Is this fair?? Is this Helping or Hurting us ?? Is this Right?? Questions came that I didn’t have answers for, and I became more and more uncomfortable. Then one day a bird flew in and perched on the window sill, and talked about God-given Rights and that He had made me so I could fly. I looked at my cage and through the bars and watched that bird who was able fly away because he was free.
As time went by my cage shrunk becoming smaller and tighter, but other birds came and perched on the window sill and told me more about the freedoms we were meant to have. As I listened to them, I noticed that the room my shrinking cage was in was getting darker and darker. It took time, but I started researching What are my God-given rights, what are those freedoms out there, and how do I get out of this cage. I also realized that “Yes, I am kinda afraid to get out of this cage”. It did take time—but now I want to be the bird perched on others window sill saying “Try your wings – find out what you were meant to do — experience freedom”. “Come on out, before to much longer you will suffocate in that tiny, tiny cage in that dark, dark room and you may not even realize that it is happening”.
Remember the story about the frog in the pan of water, as the heat was turned up gradually he didn’t notice it getting hotter an hotter until it was boiling and it was too late.
There is an ALARM going off, a WAKE UP CALL!
Listen to the birds chirping outside and on your window sill! I am only one little bird — but I will point you toward many other birds that have a lot more knowledge than I have. But first — let me point you toward the Eagle in the heavens that says: Exodus 19:4 – “I bore you on eagle’s wings, and brought you unto Myself.”; Malachi 4:2 – “Unto you that fear My Name shall the Son of Righteousness arise with healing in His wings.” We can respond: Psalms17:8 – “Hide me under the shadow of Thy wings.”; and Psalms 57:1 – “My soul trusteth in Thee; yea, in the shadow of Thy wings I will make my refuge.” Then we can take His promise Isaiah 40:31 – “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not be faint.”
This first Eagle that I point you toward is God, His Word (the Bible). prayer, and conscience. Are the things going on around you and happening to you and others Right or Wrong? – What can you or should you do about it?
The next bird on the window sill that I will point you toward is KrisAnne Hall, Constitutional Attorney and Educator, Author, Speaker and Radio Host. Until then, I will close this fence gate and look forward to meeting you on the trail at the next post.
